Cookie Policy
Which cookies CompoundX uses — essential, analytics and marketing — what each does, and how to change your choices at any time.
Draft pending legal review. Details shown in [brackets] are still to be confirmed.
In short
- Essential cookies keep the site working and secure; they are always on.
- Analytics cookies are set only if you allow them. Without consent, we count visits only in aggregate.
- Marketing cookies and third-party tags load only if they are configured and you allow them.
- Change your choice at any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies — such as local storage — do the same job. We use the word "cookies" for all of them. This policy explains which we use and how you control them. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
The three categories
Essential. Needed for the site to work and stay secure: keeping you signed in, remembering your cookie choices, and keeping results you just created until you save them. They can't be switched off, because the site wouldn't work without them.
Analytics. Help us understand how the site is used — which pages and tools are helpful, where people get stuck — so we can improve it. If you allow analytics and later contact us, the tools and pages you used are linked to your enquiry so our team can follow up helpfully and decide how soon to reach out (an interest score, never a judgement of suitability). Set only if you allow them. Without your consent, we still count events such as page views in aggregate, without linking them to you or your browser.
Marketing. Help us measure our advertising and show relevant messages on other platforms. Set only if third-party tags are configured on our site and you allow marketing cookies.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__Host-cx_session, cx_session |
Essential | Keeps you signed in securely. Stores a random token; the matching record on our server is hashed. Called __Host-cx_session on the live site (locked to our domain over HTTPS) and cx_session on test copies. | Until you sign out, or up to 30 days (12 hours for staff) |
cx_consent |
Essential | Remembers your cookie choices so we don’t ask on every visit. | About 6 months (182 days), then we ask again |
cx_wl_claim, cx_xr_claim |
Essential | Keeps the Wealth Lab or Portfolio X-Ray results you just created linked to your browser, so you can save them to an account after signing in. Contains a signed reference, not your answers. | 7 days |
cx_oauth |
Essential | Protects Google sign-in while it is in progress (a one-time security check). Only set if you choose “Continue with Google”. | 10 minutes |
cx_admin_sidebar |
Essential | Staff only: remembers whether the admin sidebar is expanded. | 1 year |
cx_vid |
Analytics | A random first-party visitor ID that links your visits, set only if you allow analytics. Deleted when you withdraw analytics consent. | About 13 months (395 days) |
cx_utm |
Analytics | Remembers the campaign link you arrived from (its campaign tags, the page you landed on and the referring site), so an enquiry can be attributed to it. Set only if you allow analytics or marketing cookies. | Until you close your browser |
_ga, _ga_<id> (Google Analytics) |
Analytics | Measures site usage. Loaded only if configured and you allow analytics. | Set by the provider |
_fbp (Meta Pixel) |
Marketing | Measures and personalises advertising on Meta platforms. Loaded only if configured and you allow marketing cookies. | Set by the provider |
| Cookies set by the LinkedIn Insight Tag | Marketing | Measures advertising on LinkedIn. Loaded only if configured and you allow marketing cookies. | Set by the provider |
_gcl_au (Google Ads) |
Marketing | Measures conversions from Google ads. Loaded only if configured and you allow marketing cookies. | Set by the provider |
| Browser storage (session and local storage) | Essential | Keeps things on your device so they aren’t lost: unsaved calculator, Wealth Lab, Portfolio X-Ray and goal drafts, your Ask X conversation and your recent searches. Not a cookie, and not sent to us unless you save or submit. | Session storage: until you close the tab. Local storage: until you clear it |
Third-party cookies are listed for transparency; they are only present if the corresponding service is enabled. Their providers' own policies describe how they use the data.
Browser storage (the last row) keeps drafts and conveniences on your device. It stays in your browser and is not sent to us unless you choose to save or submit something.
Your choices
- On your first visit, the cookie banner lets you choose Essential only, Accept all or Customise.
- Any time after, open Cookie settings in the site footer to change your choice. Signed-in users can also manage consents from Account → Privacy.
- In your browser, you can block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site, such as signing in, from working.
When you withdraw consent, we stop setting the related cookies and stop loading the related tags from then on. We record your consent choices as described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes
We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The table above is the current list.
